46. Good for him
Going to college, and with honors. His parents must be proud they are filthy rich and they do not even have to pay for his college education.

I don't just defend rappers. If they do something stupid then they should be punished...period. I do however hate the fact that if the story is about a rapper, then the whole genre and race is trashed on these posts. There has got to be between 60-70 rappers around (counting mainstream and underground) and about 5-6 who have gotten arrested (this year) that roughly doesn't even make up 10%, but people are always acting like rappers are just running rampant and going to jail everyday and its just not true. Rap may be crap to you but to many other including me its not. Other Celebes can also be seen as not contributing to society either as they get arrested more than any rappers out there (Brit, Paris, Lindsey, Nicole), but people are more lenient on them. And just because you don't like a particular genre doesn't mean all the artist are bad people, while you have some rappers who rap about violence, drug, etc you have others like Common, Lupe, and Talib who talk about social awareness, pride, and positive things. So you can’t just look at 1 or 2 artist and trash the whole genre. I don't like heavy metal, but that doesn't make me think that all the artists are evil devil worshipers. I think some of the posters are sometimes being harsh depending on the story. You can have the same scenario but with different races and the comments are always harsher towards blacks. That's just the way I see things especially in TMZ land!

I didn't say giviving scholarships to athletes were a financial drain, I said it was a money maker and therefore that is why it is done. Earning a academic scholarship for most is out of reach. Just because a kid isn't in the top, say three or four percent academically doesn't mean they don't deserve a higher education. Some people are naturally quicker than others, hard study can take you a long way but if you have slightly less natural ability than another who also studies you won't earn a full academic scholarship. Also, the percentage of truely gifted athletes is also very small. A average size kid will not earn football or basketball scholarship at a major university regardless of his 'hard work'. My point was that this kid is already way ahead of the curve, lets try to put more in a better position. This looks like a rich getting richer situation to me. Thats all well and good but the rap community as a whole is always saying that they are help down. Lifting up each other seems like a good idea to me. Sorry if the idea offends you.

52. so give a kid with millions in the bank a full ride when there is a poor kid who cant afford college now he cant go ....

53. WTF! A scholarship? He can afford to go to any school he chooses. Why don't they give the scholarship to someone who really needs it.... I mean DAMN, congrats on being a good student and but does he really need a scholarship. Now i think his Daddy (MASTER P) should pay the way for a disadvantaged student who could really use a scholarship.

56. Now why would a kid that certainly can afford to pay for his own tuition take a scholarship that should go to a student who truly can't afford it? It's a truly selfish world.

57. cant we just be happy that a child is going to college, seriously? all of this "he didnt deserve it" jive is really pathetic. what about actresses who have been famous for years getting accepted to ivy leagues? Jodie Foster & Claire Danes both went to Yale i bet you didnt even question how they got in because they're not originally from the "hood" and they're white......but a kid like Romeo who based on what i've seen is not a bad kid at all. He has a television show on NICKELODEON while also attending a REAL high school fulltime unlike some of these other kids you assume are smarter than him who have a friggin TUTOR in the trailor and that's it....no real high school education but you'd never question them. Some of you really need some introspection into what makes your racism tick. If he's a jock and he got in based on that....it happens...colleges WANT good athletes but apparently hes not the type of jock who slides by with C's, he's IN HIS BOOKS. WHY CANT YOU GUYS JUST BE HAPPY FOR SOMEONE?????

USC is really difficult to get into and believe me plenty of RICH O.C. brats do get in with scholarships if they have the grades so financial status shouldnt matter.......do you think you would have been able to be an honor student with all the distractions he has in his life? I doubt it...he did it, congratulate him
